Taipei, March 22, 2025

As the industry moves toward higher data-rate Artificial Intelligence (AI) networks, optical interconnects are expected to replace copper links for short-reach applications, including chip-to-chip and intra-chip (on-chip) connections.

The AIO Core optical engine incorporates quantum dot lasers and is designed for ultra-low power consumption and compact transceivers. The novel AIO Core transceiver is a 5 mm × 5 mm chip-scale package operating in the 1300 nm band. The use of quantum dot lasers enables the transceivers to operate over a wide temperature range (-40 to 105 °C) with extremely high reliability.

“Phison is pleased to work with AIO Core. By combining Phison’s industry-leading signal integrity technologies (such as Retimer) and cutting-edge SSDs with AIO Core’s competitive optical engine, we can solve critical customer challenges such as signal conditioning with the highest reliability,” said K.S. Pua, CEO of PHISON.

“AIO Core is gaining traction in the automotive, medical, industrial, and aerospace sectors, where a wide temperature range and the highest reliability are essential,” said Mr. Hidetaka Fukuda, Chief Executive Officer of AIO Core Inc. He added, “Collaborating with Phison is a great opportunity for AIO Core, as it allows us to add value to Phison’s data center ecosystem, including AI servers and storage customers seeking competitive solutions.”

This demonstration is based on results from project JPNP21029, commissioned by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), Japan.
